The alternatives to a law school admissions consultant, priced

Law school admissions firms sell two different things and price them very differently. A written read of one personal statement: PowerScore lists $895.00 for a detailed written evaluation and critique of one complete statement within 4-5 days. A collaboration over several drafts: PowerScore lists $1,450.00 for unlimited draft reviews, Accepted lists $1,600 for a strategy session, an outline and typically two to four rounds with a guaranteed two-business-day turnaround on each submission, Blueprint lists $989 on special from a $1,099 list, and 7Sage lists $1,499 for unlimited edits on a single essay. Whole-application packages sit above all of that: 7Sage from $4,999 for five applications to $8,999 for fifteen, and Spivey Consulting publishes a range of $2,950 to $8,550 without naming an individual price.

Below that sit two cheaper shapes. Copy editing, where EssayEdge lists $69 to proofread a statement up to 600 words and $149 to proofread and critique it on a stated 24 to 48 hours. And an admissions-style report, which is what NudgeEssay is: $49 for one essay or $299 for 20, back in about five minutes, with the verdict shown free before you decide whether to pay. It is not a consultant and does not replace one; what it replaces is the guessing between drafts.

Every third-party figure is what that firm’s own page said on 12 September 2026, with links below. Where a firm publishes a range rather than a price, the range is what appears here; no midpoint has been invented from one. Prices in this market move once a cycle, so check the current version before buying anything, including ours. Firm names are the trademarks of their owners; none is affiliated with NudgeEssay.

What $895 buys that $49 does not

A person. PowerScore’s $895.00 critique is written by someone who read your statement and can be argued with; the $1,450.00 tier keeps reading your drafts until you stop sending them. The firms above the thousand-dollar line are also selling judgment about things a read of one draft cannot touch: whether your school list is realistic, whether the addendum helps or hurts, who should write your letters, what to do when a waitlist arrives in March.

What $49buys is one narrow thing done consistently. The same six bands, the same simulated first read at real speed, the same anchoring to your own sentences, at two in the morning on the night before a deadline, with nobody’s mood in it. If you are between drafts and the question is “is this better than the last one, and what is still wrong”, that is the question this answers, and it is the question a consultant’s clock makes expensive to ask five times.

We are not the cheapest thing on this page

Free is cheaper, and free can be good. A professor who has written letters for twenty applicants knows things no product on this page does, and a forum thread occasionally produces the one sentence that fixes an essay. The catch is that neither is reliable and neither is fast: nobody owes you a reply, and the people who do reply cannot be sorted into the ones worth listening to.

Cheaper still, if what you actually need is a clean document rather than a verdict: a per-word copy edit. That is a different purchase and the comparison across every track, including the per-word rates, is set out on the full graduate comparison.

Nothing here can tell you what a law school will decide. No essay review can, including this one, and any product that implies otherwise is selling something it cannot deliver.

One test for any of these, including ours

Ask to see a complete finished report on a real statement, start to finish, not a sample comment and not a testimonial. Five complete graduate reports are published here in full and unedited, one of them on a law personal statement that is mostly resume in prose, free to read with no account, precisely so the test can be run on us.

Before any of that, two questions decide most of it: how long the statement should be and whether an addendum is worth writing at all, both answered from each school’s own stated wording rather than from advice.

Law school essay help, answered

How much do law school admissions consultants charge for a personal statement?
It depends whether you are buying a read or a collaboration, and the published figures are far apart. PowerScore lists $895.00 for a written evaluation and critique of one complete personal statement within 4-5 days, and $1,450.00 for a full personal statement service with unlimited draft reviews. Accepted lists $1,600 by credit card for a package covering a strategy session, an outline and typically two to four rounds of revisions, with a guaranteed two-business-day turnaround on each submission. Blueprint lists a Personal Statement package at $989 on special from a $1,099 list. 7Sage lists $1,499 for unlimited edits on one essay and $249 for a single essay workshop session. Spivey Consulting publishes only a range: packages from $2,950 to $8,550 and a la carte services from $395 to $2,275.
What is the cheapest way to get a law school personal statement reviewed?
Free, if you can get it: a professor, a supervisor, or a stranger in an applicant forum who owes you nothing and may not reply. After that the cheapest paid options are copy editing rather than admissions feedback. EssayEdge lists $69 for proofreading a statement of up to 600 words and $149 for proofreading plus a critique, both on a stated 24 to 48 hours. NudgeEssay is $49 for one essay, or $299 for 20 essays, about $15 each, and returns an admissions-style report in about five minutes.
Is an essay review a substitute for a law school admissions consultant?
No, and it is worth being clear about which parts it does not replace. A consultant builds a school list with you, decides whether an addendum helps or hurts, works on your recommenders, reads your whole file, and answers your email in November when you panic. An essay review does one thing: it tells you what your draft is doing on the page. If what you need is a decision about strategy, buy the hours. If what you need is to know whether the statement you already wrote lands, buy the read.
What does the NudgeEssay report contain for a law school personal statement?
Six bands written for the law statement specifically, not for an essay in general: narrative and insight, evidence of judgment, specificity and scene, why law, structure and economy, and writing quality, which law readers grade hard. Each band names the sentence that earned it. On top of that: the one line a fast reader would carry out, where their attention dropped paragraph by paragraph, notes anchored to your own sentences with rewording options in your register, and two ways to restructure what you already have. It never writes the statement.
Does a human read my statement on NudgeEssay?
No. On the graduate lane the engine reads it and no person does, which is why the report comes back in about five minutes at any hour and costs what it costs. There is no expert-reviewer tier on the graduate path. If you want a named human who argues with you over several drafts, that is what the firms on this page sell and their prices reflect it.
Is NudgeEssay affiliated with any law school or with the firms on this page?
No. NudgeEssay has no relationship with any law school, does not predict or influence any admissions decision, and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or partnered with any firm named here. Every figure on this page was read from that firm’s own page on the date given beside it.
