I first visited UW-Madison last summer with my family and I immediately fell in love with the campus.1 Walking down State Street and sitting on the Memorial Union Terrace looking out at Lake Mendota, I could really picture myself as a student there. The colorful sunburst chairs and the energy of the students2 made me feel at home right away.
As someone who wants to major in biology, I know that UW-Madison is one of the top research universities in the country. I am excited about the opportunity to get involved in undergraduate research and work with professors who are leaders in their fields3. I am also interested in the pre-health advising resources4, since I hope to go to medical school someday.
Another thing that attracts me to UW-Madison is the Wisconsin Idea, the belief that the university should benefit people across the whole state and beyond5. This connects to my volunteer work at a free clinic in my town, where I help check patients in on Tuesday nights6. I want to go to a school where what I learn will be used to help real people.7
Finally, I love the school spirit at Madison.8 Going to a Badgers game at Camp Randall and jumping around during "Jump Around" is something I have wanted to do since my cousin went there. I know that at UW-Madison I would find a community that is both academically challenging and fun, and I can't wait to be a part of it.9
