Rebuild 1
Stay Inside the Work
The current essay tells the story of the practice; this version stays almost entirely inside one articulation session, letting the philosophy emerge from the physical act rather than being stated in a separate paragraph.
The rebuild, beat by beat
- 1Brief origin: the Wawa shoulder, the shoebox, the permit — two sentences, not four.
- 2The beetle colony: what it actually looks like, what 'the sound' is (name it here, now that the reader has earned it), what patience at this scale feels like.
- 3The moment the skeleton holds its shape for the first time — the specific wrongness that becomes rightness.
- 4The bio teacher, the case, the freshmen — same as current, maybe one line longer on what she actually said.
- 5Close on 'un-flatten them' — let the philosophy land from inside the work rather than in a separate reflection paragraph.
