University of Houston essay review

University of Houston prints four supplemental prompts for 2026-27 and asks every applicant to write one of them. A NudgeEssay review reads your draft against the University of Houston prompt you pick, not against a general checklist: six rubric bands scored 1 to 5, notes on your own sentences in the margin, a map of where a reader's attention holds and where it drops, and a ranked list of fixes with the biggest one first. The first fix and the line a reader kept come back free; the full marked-up report is $49 for one essay or $299 for 20.

The University of Houston prompts and deadlines below were read on University of Houston's own admissions site on 2026-09-05. NudgeEssay is not affiliated with University of Houston and makes no claim about any admissions decision.

What University of Houston asks you to write

Word for word, from University of Houston’s own admissions pages. Pick the one your draft answers in the box below and the read is judged against that prompt’s own asks.

  1. Supplement 1

Some students have a background, identity, interest or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.

UH labels this 'Topic 1' under 'Common App Essay Prompts'. UH says to complete the short admissions essay using Common App essay prompts 1, 2, 3 or 5 only. No word limit is printed on UH's page.

  2. Supplement 2

The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?

    UH 'Topic 2'.

  3. Supplement 3

Reflect on a time when you questioned or challenged a belief or idea. What prompted your thinking? What was the outcome?

    UH 'Topic 3'.

  4. Supplement 4

Discuss an accomplishment, event or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others.

    UH 'Topic 5'.

What the review does to your University of Houston essay

It reads the draft cold, the way a stranger with four hundred more files to get through reads it, and answers the question that decides the essay: what is still there a week later. Then it scores six rubric bands from 1 to 5, each with a short quote from your own essay that drove the band and two or three sentences on what would raise it.

It marks your own sentences in the margin, maps where a reader’s attention holds and where it drops across the draft, screens for the patterns that read as AI-written or consultant-written, names the stock archetypes the essay is falling into, and ranks the fixes with the biggest one first. It points at your own material and never writes a sentence for you to paste.

Prompt fit is judged first, before any opinion of the writing: each distinct ask in the University of Houston prompt is checked separately, because an essay aimed near the prompt rather than at it is the most common fatal miss in a paid draft.

All 23 checks are listed on what the review checks. Seven complete reports on sample essays are published unedited, exactly as the engine wrote them, on the samples page, and what a college essay grader leaves out explains where the six bands stop and the read begins.

What University of Houston reports about admissions

University of Houston admits 73.9% of applicants. The middle 50% of enrolled students scored 1160-1340 on the SAT and 23-29 on the ACT.

From the federal College Scorecard, pulled 2026-09-17. Score figures describe enrolled students, not applicants and not admits, and they are not a cutoff. No admission probability is stated anywhere on this site, because colleges do not publish admit rates conditional on a score, so any single percentage would be invented. The free chance me tool sorts a list into reaches, targets and likelies and gives no percentage either.

Questions

How many essays does University of Houston require?
University of Houston prints four supplemental prompts for 2026-27 and asks every applicant to write one of them. Each prompt is printed word for word on this page and on the University of Houston requirements page, with the date it was last read on University of Houston's own admissions site.
What is the word limit on the University of Houston essays?
University of Houston does not state a limit in words on the prompts every applicant meets. Where a college states a cap in characters or lines, or states none at all, this site prints what the college actually wrote rather than converting it into a word count that the college never published. The wording is above, exactly as it appears on University of Houston's own page.
Is the review written against the University of Houston prompts or against a general checklist?
Against the prompt you pick. You choose which University of Houston prompt the draft answers before the read starts, and the report judges whether the essay answers that prompt's distinct asks, each one separately, before it forms any opinion of the writing. A well-made essay aimed near the prompt is the most common fatal miss in a paid draft, so prompt fit is judged first rather than last.
When is the University of Houston application deadline?
The first deadline is Regular Decision on May 31, 2027. Dates come from University of Houston's own admissions site, read on 2026-09-05, and a college can move a date mid-cycle, so confirm on University of Houston's own page before you rely on it.
How much does an essay review for University of Houston cost?
$49 for one essay, $199 for a pack of 10, or $299 for a pack of 20, which is about $15 an essay. Every essay includes one free re-read of the revised draft and nothing expires. You see your report in redacted form, with the first fix and the line a reader kept, before you decide whether to pay.
Is NudgeEssay connected to University of Houston?
No. NudgeEssay has no relationship with University of Houston or with any other college, is not endorsed by University of Houston, and does not predict, influence or guarantee any admissions decision. The University of Houston prompts and deadlines on this page were read from University of Houston's own public admissions pages and are linked to their source. The review is a reading of your writing, nothing more.
