Vassar College essay review

Vassar College prints four supplemental prompts for 2026-27 and asks every applicant to write three of them, capped at 300 words or less. A NudgeEssay review reads your draft against the Vassar College prompt you pick, not against a general checklist: six rubric bands scored 1 to 5, notes on your own sentences in the margin, a map of where a reader's attention holds and where it drops, and a ranked list of fixes with the biggest one first. The first fix and the line a reader kept come back free; the full marked-up report is $49 for one essay or $299 for 20.

The Vassar College prompts and deadlines below were read on Vassar College's own admissions site on 2026-08-29. NudgeEssay is not affiliated with Vassar College and makes no claim about any admissions decision.

What Vassar College asks you to write

Word for word, from Vassar College’s own admissions pages. Pick the one your draft answers in the box below and the read is judged against that prompt’s own asks.

  1. Supplement 1 · 300 words or less

At Vassar, we aim to foster an inclusive community through our philosophy of engaged pluralism. Engaged pluralism is rooted in “the conviction that collaborating across differences is necessary for social transformation and critical for the well-being of any community and its members.” In short, we believe it’s our differences that make us stronger. Tell us a little bit about an important part of your identity and how it has shaped your life and/or interactions with others.

Introduced by the instruction line “Please select and respond to one of the following prompts in 300 words or less.”

  2. Supplement 2 · 300 words or less

Vassar is a diverse community that inspires positive change through open inquiry, deep dives into society’s most difficult challenges, and collaborative problem solving. We care deeply about one another, the communities that have forged us, and the community we build together on campus. Tell us more about the community (or communities) you come from and how it has shaped your lived experiences and identity.

Same 300-word instruction line as the other option. CollegeVine's 2025-2026 guide renders this sentence as “Tell us about the community (or communities)…” (without “more”); the 2026/2027 College Essay Guy text used here says “Tell us more about…”.

  3. Supplement 3 · No length stated · not an essay

Your Space is your opportunity to allow the Committee on Admission to learn something about you that you have not addressed in another section of the application. For example, in the past, applicants have shared poetry, short stories, cartoons, digital images of art projects, photography, and collages, and/or links to videos, and short films. It is your space, so if you choose to complete it, send something that is a reflection of you! Your Space is entirely optional.

Verbatim from Vassar's own requirements page. Not necessarily an essay: applicants may upload creative work, images, or video links.

  4. Supplement 4 · No length stated (file upload) · not an essay

If you wish to provide details of circumstances not reflected in the application, please upload a file here. Similarly, if you wish to upload your resume, include it here.

Optional upload slot, third-party sourced only (College Essay Guy and CollegeVine both list it); Vassar's own site does not describe it.

The same prompts with every deadline round, the platform and the dated source are on the Vassar College essay requirements page.

What the review does to your Vassar College essay

It reads the draft cold, the way a stranger with four hundred more files to get through reads it, and answers the question that decides the essay: what is still there a week later. Then it scores six rubric bands from 1 to 5, each with a short quote from your own essay that drove the band and two or three sentences on what would raise it.

It marks your own sentences in the margin, maps where a reader’s attention holds and where it drops across the draft, screens for the patterns that read as AI-written or consultant-written, names the stock archetypes the essay is falling into, and ranks the fixes with the biggest one first. It points at your own material and never writes a sentence for you to paste.

Prompt fit is judged first, before any opinion of the writing: each distinct ask in the Vassar College prompt is checked separately, because an essay aimed near the prompt rather than at it is the most common fatal miss in a paid draft.

All 23 checks are listed on what the review checks. Seven complete reports on sample essays are published unedited, exactly as the engine wrote them, on the samples page, and what a college essay grader leaves out explains where the six bands stop and the read begins.

What Vassar College reports about admissions

Vassar College admits 18.6% of applicants. The middle 50% of enrolled students scored 1450-1550 on the SAT and 33-35 on the ACT.

From the federal College Scorecard, pulled 2026-09-17. Score figures describe enrolled students, not applicants and not admits, and they are not a cutoff. No admission probability is stated anywhere on this site, because colleges do not publish admit rates conditional on a score, so any single percentage would be invented. The free chance me tool sorts a list into reaches, targets and likelies and gives no percentage either.

Questions

How many essays does Vassar College require?
Vassar College prints four supplemental prompts for 2026-27 and asks every applicant to write three of them, capped at 300 words or less. Each prompt is printed word for word on this page and on the Vassar College requirements page, with the date it was last read on Vassar College's own admissions site.
What is the word limit on the Vassar College essays?
300 words. That is the cap Vassar College states on the prompt every applicant meets, taken from Vassar College's own admissions page. A range such as 150 to 250 words is counted at its upper number here.
Is the review written against the Vassar College prompts or against a general checklist?
Against the prompt you pick. You choose which Vassar College prompt the draft answers before the read starts, and the report judges whether the essay answers that prompt's distinct asks, each one separately, before it forms any opinion of the writing. A well-made essay aimed near the prompt is the most common fatal miss in a paid draft, so prompt fit is judged first rather than last.
When is the Vassar College application deadline?
The first deadline is Early Decision on November 15, 2026. Vassar College publishes 3 rounds for 2026-27: Early Decision on November 15, 2026, Early Decision II on January 1, 2027, Regular Decision on January 1, 2027. Dates come from Vassar College's own admissions site, read on 2026-08-29, and a college can move a date mid-cycle, so confirm on Vassar College's own page before you rely on it.
How much does an essay review for Vassar College cost?
$49 for one essay, $199 for a pack of 10, or $299 for a pack of 20, which is about $15 an essay. Every essay includes one free re-read of the revised draft and nothing expires. You see your report in redacted form, with the first fix and the line a reader kept, before you decide whether to pay.
Is NudgeEssay connected to Vassar College?
No. NudgeEssay has no relationship with Vassar College or with any other college, is not endorsed by Vassar College, and does not predict, influence or guarantee any admissions decision. The Vassar College prompts and deadlines on this page were read from Vassar College's own public admissions pages and are linked to their source. The review is a reading of your writing, nothing more.
