The alternatives to an MBA admissions consultant, priced
MBA admissions firms mostly do not sell a single essay, which is why their smallest published number is four figures. mbaMission lists Complete Start-to-Finish packages from $6,600 for one school to $32,800 for seven, and hourly services at $440 to $775 an hour with a two-hour minimum and a stated two-business-day turnaround. Admissionado lists $3,640 for one application on Silver rising to $18,620 for seven on Platinum. Stacy Blackman Consulting lists hourly blocks at $790 for two hours, $1,925 for five and $3,750 for ten.
Two firms do publish a price for one essay. Stacy Blackman lists $170 for an essay up to 500 words on a three-business-day turnaround, $210 with a one-business-day rush, with one round of edits per order and a page that states the edit does not include reducing word count. mbaMission lists an Essay Package at $1,235 to $2,000. Below them sit the editors: EssayEdge at $69 to proofread up to 600 words and $149 to proofread and critique, and Gurufi from $149 with re-revisions included. NudgeEssay is $49 for one essay or $299 for 20, back in about five minutes, with the verdict shown free before you decide whether to pay.

Every third-party figure is what that firm’s own page said on 12 September 2026, with links below. Rate cards in this market are per consultant level, so a single price is usually a range and is shown here as one. Prices move once a cycle; check the current version before buying anything, including ours. Firm names are the trademarks of their owners; none is affiliated with NudgeEssay.
Why the per-essay price is so hard to find here
Because most MBA firms are not selling essays, they are selling the application. The package is the product: school list, positioning, resume, recommenders, every essay, interview prep, and a named person who answers you in November. Priced that way, one essay has no price, and the two firms above that do publish one are the exceptions rather than the pattern.
That matters in Round 1 specifically, because the arithmetic is per essay and not per application. A single program often asks for two or three pieces of writing, and five programs is a dozen drafts. At $15 an essay in the pack of 20, reading all of them twice is affordable in a way that a three-business-day human edit at $170 an essay is not. That is the only claim being made here: it is a cheaper way to read more drafts, not a better read than a person gives.
What the four-figure options buy that this does not
A decision-maker. A consultant tells you which five schools to apply to, whether your pivot is credible to a committee, which of your two managers should write the letter, and what to do when Round 1 goes badly. None of that is in a read of one draft, and no amount of rubric replaces it.
They also give you argument. A per-essay edit is one round by a person who can be pushed back on; the hourly tiers are as many rounds as you buy. What comes back here is a document, not a conversation: the same six bands applied the same way at midnight as at noon, with the sentence that earned each one quoted back at you. Nothing on this page can tell you what a school will decide, including this one.
One test for any of these, including ours
Ask to see a complete finished report on a real essay, start to finish. Five complete graduate reports are published here in full and unedited, one of them on an MBA goals essay whose career pivot has no bridge in it, free to read with no account.
Before writing anything, the length each program actually states is worth checking: the caps do not converge, so there is no general answer, only each school’s own wording. The full market across every track, including the per-word editors, is on the graduate comparison.
MBA essay help, answered
- How much do MBA admissions consultants charge?
- By the hour, by the essay, or by the application, and the three are very far apart. mbaMission publishes hourly services at $440 to $775 an hour with a two-hour minimum and a stated two-business-day turnaround. Stacy Blackman Consulting publishes hourly blocks at $790 for two hours, $1,925 for five and $3,750 for ten. Whole-application packages start higher: mbaMission lists $6,600 for one school rising to $32,800 for seven, and Admissionado lists $3,640 for one application on its Silver tier rising to $18,620 for seven on Platinum.
- Is there a per-essay price anywhere in MBA admissions consulting?
- Rarely, and that is the most useful thing to know about this market. Stacy Blackman Consulting publishes one: $170 for an essay of up to 500 words on a three-business-day turnaround, $210 with a one-business-day rush, rising by word band to $490 at 4,001 to 5,000 words, with one round of edits per order. mbaMission publishes an Essay Package at $1,235 to $2,000. Most firms do not sell a single essay at all: they sell the application, which is why their smallest number is four figures.
- What is the cheapest way to get an MBA goals essay reviewed?
- Free, from a classmate, a manager or an alumnus of the program, if you can get a real read out of them. After that the cheap end is editing rather than admissions feedback: EssayEdge lists $69 to proofread an essay of up to 600 words and $149 to proofread and critique it, on a stated 24 to 48 hours, and Gurufi lists packages starting at $149 with re-revisions included, $199 for 24 hours and $325 for a return in as little as two hours. NudgeEssay is $49 for one essay or $299 for 20, about $15 each, which matters when a single Round 1 application asks for two or three essays and you are applying to five schools.
- What does the NudgeEssay report contain for an MBA essay?
- Six bands written for the goals essay specifically: goals clarity and why now, why this program with the transferability test applied (swap the school name and the essay should break), leadership and impact with your own role evidenced, self-awareness, structure and economy, and whether it sounds like a specific working adult rather than a template. Plus the one line a committee member would repeat, where their attention dropped, notes anchored to your own sentences, every named resource listed so you can check each one, and two ways to restructure what you have.
- Does a human read my essay on NudgeEssay?
- No. On the graduate lane the engine reads it and no person does, which is why it comes back in about five minutes at any hour and costs what it costs. There is no expert-reviewer tier on the graduate path. A consultant is a different purchase and the firms on this page price it accordingly.
- Is NudgeEssay affiliated with any business school or with the firms on this page?
- No. NudgeEssay has no relationship with any business school, does not predict or influence any admissions decision, and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or partnered with any firm named here. Every figure on this page was read from that firm’s own page on the date given beside it.
What the read judges, band by band, is set out on what an MBA essay review judges, and the prompts and stated limits for each program are on this cycle's prompts at each program.
