This college does not publish its questions.
Vassar publishes no prompt text; neither its requirements page nor its how-to-apply page mentions the supplement questions. Its "Your Space" component IS described first-party and matches what we carry. The two 300-word choose-one questions are from essay guides. Checked again 2026-08-29 on the college own site.

At Vassar, we aim to foster an inclusive community through our philosophy of engaged pluralism. Engaged pluralism is rooted in “the conviction that collaborating across differences is necessary for social transformation and critical for the well-being of any community and its members.” In short, we believe it’s our differences that make us stronger. Tell us a little bit about an important part of your identity and how it has shaped your life and/or interactions with others.
Introduced by the instruction line “Please select and respond to one of the following prompts in 300 words or less.”

Vassar is a diverse community that inspires positive change through open inquiry, deep dives into society’s most difficult challenges, and collaborative problem solving. We care deeply about one another, the communities that have forged us, and the community we build together on campus. Tell us more about the community (or communities) you come from and how it has shaped your lived experiences and identity.
Same 300-word instruction line as the other option. CollegeVine's 2025-2026 guide renders this sentence as “Tell us about the community (or communities)…” (without “more”); the 2026/2027 College Essay Guy text used here says “Tell us more about…”.

Your Space is your opportunity to allow the Committee on Admission to learn something about you that you have not addressed in another section of the application. For example, in the past, applicants have shared poetry, short stories, cartoons, digital images of art projects, photography, and collages, and/or links to videos, and short films. It is your space, so if you choose to complete it, send something that is a reflection of you! Your Space is entirely optional.
Verbatim from Vassar's own requirements page. Not necessarily an essay: applicants may upload creative work, images, or video links.
Optional · No length stated (file upload)
If you wish to provide details of circumstances not reflected in the application, please upload a file here. Similarly, if you wish to upload your resume, include it here.
Optional upload slot, third-party sourced only (College Essay Guy and CollegeVine both list it); Vassar's own site does not describe it.

Getting into Vassar College
Vassar College admits 18.6% of applicants. The middle 50% of enrolled students scored 1450-1550 on the SAT and 33-35 on the ACT.
About 1 in 5 applicants are admitted, at a college of 2,444 undergraduates.
| Enrolled students | 25th | Median | 75th |
|---|---|---|---|
| SAT total | 1450 | 1500 | 1550 |
| SAT reading and writing | 730 | 750 | 770 |
| SAT math | 720 | 750 | 780 |
| ACT composite | 33 | 33 | 35 |
What SAT score do you need for Vassar College?
A 1550 puts you in the top quarter of the students who enrolled, a 1500 at their midpoint, and a 1450 at the bottom quarter, meaning one in four enrolled students scored below it. The same three points on the ACT are 33, 33 and 35. A quarter of an enrolled class scoring under the 25th percentile is not a rounding error, so a score below the range is a reason to strengthen the rest of the application rather than a reason not to apply.
US Department of Education, College Scorecard (2026-09-17). Percentiles describe students who enrolled, not everyone admitted. SAT totals are the reading and math bands added together, which is how every source in this market reports them and is an approximation of about 10 to 20 points, because the two sections are correlated.
- What SAT score do you need for Vassar College?
- Vassar College sets no minimum. Among students who enrolled, the middle 50% scored 1450-1550 on the SAT: a 1450 sits at the 25th percentile, 1500 at the median and 1550 at the 75th. A score at or above 1550 is a clear strength in the application; below 1450 it is the part of the file the rest has to make up for. These are the figures Vassar College reports to the US Department of Education, released in the College Scorecard of 2026-09-17.
- What ACT score do you need for Vassar College?
- The middle 50% of enrolled students scored 33-35 on the ACT, with a composite of 33 at the median. There is no cutoff: a quarter of the enrolled class scored below 33. Reported by Vassar College to the US Department of Education, College Scorecard release of 2026-09-17.
- What GPA do you need for Vassar College?
- The honest answer is that the federal data behind this page does not contain one. Colleges report their admit rate and their enrolled students' test scores to the Department of Education; they do not report a GPA distribution, so any site quoting an exact average GPA for Vassar College is either reading that college's own Common Data Set or estimating. What the reported data does say is that Vassar College admits 18.6% of applicants, and the more selective a college is, the closer to the top of the class its admitted students sit and the more the strength of your course load counts alongside the number itself.
- How hard is it to get into Vassar College?
- Vassar College admits 18.6% of the people who apply, which is about 1 in 5 applicants. At that rate no set of numbers makes admission likely, a perfect one included, because the college turns away far more qualified applicants than it takes. Strong grades and scores get the application read; the essays, the recommendations and what you have actually done decide it from there.
