Virginia Tech essay review

Virginia Tech asks every applicant for four school-specific essays for 2026-27, capped at 120 words. A NudgeEssay review reads your draft against the Virginia Tech prompt you pick, not against a general checklist: six rubric bands scored 1 to 5, notes on your own sentences in the margin, a map of where a reader's attention holds and where it drops, and a ranked list of fixes with the biggest one first. The first fix and the line a reader kept come back free; the full marked-up report is $49 for one essay or $299 for 20.

The Virginia Tech prompts and deadlines below were read on Virginia Tech's own admissions site on 2026-08-18. NudgeEssay is not affiliated with Virginia Tech and makes no claim about any admissions decision.

What Virginia Tech asks you to write

Word for word, from Virginia Tech’s own admissions pages. Pick the one your draft answers in the box below and the read is judged against that prompt’s own asks.

  1. Supplement 1 · 120 words

Virginia Tech's motto is "Ut Prosim" which means 'That I May Serve'. Share how you contribute to a community that is important to you. How long have you been involved? What have you learned and how would you like to share that with others at Virginia Tech?

Question 1 of 4 in the Ut Prosim Profile. All four are required for all degree-seeking applicants. On the page the first sentence is bolded and the follow-up questions are unbolded in the same paragraph; both parts are shown to the applicant as one prompt.

  2. Supplement 2 · 120 words

Have you had an experience when you or someone you know were not being included? Did you reach out to anyone for assistance, direction, or resources? Were you able to affect change and/or influence others? Did this experience change your perspective and if so, how?

Question 2 of 4. IMPORTANT CHANGE: in 2025-26 this question opened with a Principles of Community preamble ("Virginia Tech's Principles of Community supports access and inclusion by affirming the dignity and value of every person..."). VT's live 2026-2027 page has dropped that preamble entirely. The text above is the current 2026-2027 first-party wording.

  3. Supplement 3 · 120 words

Share a time when you were most proud of yourself either as a role model or when you displayed your leadership. What specific skills did you contribute to the experience? How did others rely on you for guidance? What did you learn about yourself during this time?

    Question 3 of 4.

  4. Supplement 4 · 120 words

Describe a goal that you have set and the steps you will take to achieve it. What made you set this goal for yourself? What is your timeline to achieve this goal? Who do you seek encouragement or guidance from and how do they support your progress as you work on this goal?

    Question 4 of 4.

What the review does to your Virginia Tech essay

It reads the draft cold, the way a stranger with four hundred more files to get through reads it, and answers the question that decides the essay: what is still there a week later. Then it scores six rubric bands from 1 to 5, each with a short quote from your own essay that drove the band and two or three sentences on what would raise it.

It marks your own sentences in the margin, maps where a reader’s attention holds and where it drops across the draft, screens for the patterns that read as AI-written or consultant-written, names the stock archetypes the essay is falling into, and ranks the fixes with the biggest one first. It points at your own material and never writes a sentence for you to paste.

Prompt fit is judged first, before any opinion of the writing: each distinct ask in the Virginia Tech prompt is checked separately, because an essay aimed near the prompt rather than at it is the most common fatal miss in a paid draft.

All 23 checks are listed on what the review checks. Seven complete reports on sample essays are published unedited, exactly as the engine wrote them, on the samples page, and what a college essay grader leaves out explains where the six bands stop and the read begins.

What Virginia Tech reports about admissions

Virginia Tech admits 54.8% of applicants. The middle 50% of enrolled students scored 1280-1450 on the SAT and 28-32 on the ACT.

From the federal College Scorecard, pulled 2026-09-17. Score figures describe enrolled students, not applicants and not admits, and they are not a cutoff. No admission probability is stated anywhere on this site, because colleges do not publish admit rates conditional on a score, so any single percentage would be invented. The free chance me tool sorts a list into reaches, targets and likelies and gives no percentage either.

Questions

How many essays does Virginia Tech require?
Virginia Tech asks every applicant for four school-specific essays for 2026-27, capped at 120 words. Each prompt is printed word for word on this page and on the Virginia Tech requirements page, with the date it was last read on Virginia Tech's own admissions site.
What is the word limit on the Virginia Tech essays?
120 words. That is the cap Virginia Tech states on the prompt every applicant meets, taken from Virginia Tech's own admissions page. A range such as 150 to 250 words is counted at its upper number here.
Is the review written against the Virginia Tech prompts or against a general checklist?
Against the prompt you pick. You choose which Virginia Tech prompt the draft answers before the read starts, and the report judges whether the essay answers that prompt's distinct asks, each one separately, before it forms any opinion of the writing. A well-made essay aimed near the prompt is the most common fatal miss in a paid draft, so prompt fit is judged first rather than last.
When is the Virginia Tech application deadline?
The first deadline is Early Action on December 1, 2026. Virginia Tech publishes 2 rounds for 2026-27: Early Action on December 1, 2026, Regular Decision on January 15, 2027. Dates come from Virginia Tech's own admissions site, read on 2026-08-18, and a college can move a date mid-cycle, so confirm on Virginia Tech's own page before you rely on it.
How much does an essay review for Virginia Tech cost?
$49 for one essay, $199 for a pack of 10, or $299 for a pack of 20, which is about $15 an essay. Every essay includes one free re-read of the revised draft and nothing expires. You see your report in redacted form, with the first fix and the line a reader kept, before you decide whether to pay.
Is NudgeEssay connected to Virginia Tech?
No. NudgeEssay has no relationship with Virginia Tech or with any other college, is not endorsed by Virginia Tech, and does not predict, influence or guarantee any admissions decision. The Virginia Tech prompts and deadlines on this page were read from Virginia Tech's own public admissions pages and are linked to their source. The review is a reading of your writing, nothing more.
